A newcomer to Sage this season after transferring from Hudson Valley Community College, Justin Pruiksma was an accomplished player scholastically at Coxsackie-Athens High School. He played soccer, volleyball, and baseball, serving as a team captain in both soccer and volleyball. A first-team all-star as a junior and the league’s MVP as a senior, he was named the Times Union Player of the Year as a senior in volleyball. He was also named the 2008-2009 Male Athlete of the Year from the Greene County Courier. His 2009 volleyball team won the Patroon Conference Championship as well as the Section 2 Championship and the NYS Region Class C/D Championship.
A physical education major at Sage, Pruiksma has already made his mark as a coach having served as the head coach of the Coxsackie-Athens Boys Varsity and JV Volleyball Teams in 2011-2012 and led them to the Section 2 Championship after posting a 22-3 record. An Eagle Scout, he is the son of Bruce and Diane Pruiksma.
